Aiko Ortega

Aiko Ortega is the Sr. Community Relations Manager for the Center for Leadership (the Center) at Florida International University. Aiko’s primary role is to manage the Center’s relationships and reputation with corporate and community partners and support the Center’s growth and recruitment efforts. Additionally, she serves as the liaison to the Center’s Board of Advisors, supports the delivery of programs and events, and contributes to the Center’s strategic planning.

Prior to joining the Center, Aiko served as the Program Manager for FIU Master of Science in Human Resource Management where she managed the operations, enrollment, events, and marketing/sponsorships efforts of the program. In the area of community relations, she developed numerous partnerships that furthered the program’s reputation and increased the diversity and quality of the program and its students. She was also integral in the expansion of the program to the Miramar, FL campus, nearly doubling the program’s enrollments.

Aiko also served the FIU community in her role as Manager of Development at the FIU Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences supporting the development, fundraising, and alumni relations efforts. Aiko developed relationships in the healthcare community and with donors that helped provide scholarships and resources to its students and the college.

Prior to joining FIU, Aiko relocated from Boston, MA where she began her career in the retail industry and supported the merchandising and planning efforts for TJX, Inc, a Fortune 500 company located in Framingham, MA.

Aiko holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University’s School of Business where she majored in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. She received her Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Florida International University in 2015.
