The Center for Leadership at Florida International University is pleased to announce that Dr. Noel Tichy, a distinguished professor, renowned author and an expert at training leaders in Fortune 500 companies, will visit the Modesto Maidique campus on June 4.
Dr. Tichy will deliver a discussion-style presentation and share insights from his most recently co-authored book, Judgment on the Front Line: How Smart Companies Win by Trusting Their People, at 3:30 p.m. at the College of Business Complex, CBC 232 located at 11200 SW 8th Street. The lecture, which is part of the Center’s The Leadership Lectures series, is free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow.
Judgment on the Front Line, co-authored with Chris DeRose, focuses on empowering front-line associates to gain unique insight into the customers, competition and inner workings of their organizations.

Dr. Tichy is a professor of Management & Organizations at the Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan. He first gained respect for his work at General Electric in the 1980s, where as head of GE’s Leadership Center, he directed the company’s management education and spearheaded its transformation to action learning. Dr. Tichy later began providing consulting services in both the private and public sectors as a senior partner in Action Learning Associates, where he expanded his clientele to include Best Buy, PepsiCo, Coca Cola, Daimler-Benz, GM, Nokia, Nomura Securities, PepsiCo, Royal Dutch Shell and 3M.
Recognized by BusinessWeek and Business 2.0 as one of the “Top 10 Management Gurus,” Dr. Tichy is highly regarded as a staple of management literacy, having written several articles and books and served on the editorial boards of a variety of management publications. He was also the founding editor and chief of Human Resource Management.
The Leadership Lectures series, presented by Mercantil Commercebank, features world-class, accomplished and influential leaders with expertise ranging from business and philanthropy to public service and academic research. The main goal of the series is to allow the South Florida community to have access to the expertise, advice and best practices of some the world's foremost leadership minds.
