The buzz around The Leadership Lectures, presented by the Center for Leadership at Florida International University (FIU), has been ongoing! Enough so that Mercantil Commercebank has signed on as corporate sponsors of the series for three years.
People interested in the subject of leadership appreciate the chance to hear first hand from international experts who candidly share their opinions, research and perspective on a variety of up-to-the-minute aspects of leadership.

Manfred Kets de Vries
The internationally acclaimed clinical professor of leadership development at INSEAD (European Institute of Business Administration) and founder of INSEAD’s Global Leadership Center will share with attendees his view on leadership and the dynamics of individual and organization change.
Mr. Kets de Vries is also the first non-American recipient of the International Leadership Award for “his contributions to the classroom and the board room” by the International Leadership Association.
He has also held professorships at McGill University, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, Montreal, and the Harvard Business School, and has lectured at management institutions around the world.
Mr. Kets de Vries’ topic in the Leadership Lectures is “The Leadership Challenge: A Cultural Odyssey.”

Gerry Cahill
Gerald R. Cahill joined Carnival Cruise Lines’ parent company, Carnival Corporation, in 1994 as vice president - finance and in January 1998 was promoted to senior vice president - finance and chief financial officer. In December 2003, Cahill was named executive vice president and chief financial officer for Carnival Corporation & plc. In July 2007, he was appointed to his current position, president and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines. Before joining Carnival, Cahill spent six years with Safecard Services, Inc., a NYSE-listed company, where he served first as chief financial officer and then as chief operating officer. From 1979 to 1988, he held financial posts at Resorts International, Inc. He worked for six years at Price Waterhouse.
Carnival Cruise Lines is the largest cruise line in the world, based on passengers carried. Mr. Cahill will share his insights into leadership during everyday challenges—and when the unspeakable happens.
