Lecture Topic: A movement to change Florida
Social movements are all around us — changing mindsets…rearranging political structures…and, ultimately, promoting equity. This is a conversation about one organization’s seemingly-impossible pursuit to build a real movement that will make Florida the best state in the nation for young children. For six years, The Children’s Movement of Florida has been reaching into dozens of communities across this state of 20 million people to bring awareness and support to the issue of early childhood investment. The organization’s CEO, Vance Aloupis, will share his vision for the organization, but, more specifically, what he’s learned (and how he’s grown) from the many struggles and successes that come from the pursuit of building a social movement for children.
