Senior Vice President of Human Resources and General Counsel, Daikin Applied Americas Inc.
Bill is the CHRO and General Counsel for Daikin Applied, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan-based Daikin Industries, Ltd., a global leader in air-related technology, products and solutions. He is responsible for: (i) ensuring Daikin Applied has the best talent and people-centered culture to beat the competition and help make Daikin the leader of applied commercial HVAC technology, products and solutions in the Americas; and (ii) helping Daikin Applied grow through acquisitions, protecting its legal interests and ensuring compliance with both the law and Daikin’s high ethical standards.
Bill joined Daikin Applied in 2010 after teaching labor & employment law and civil procedure for two years as a full-time visiting professor at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, MI. From 1999 to 2008, Bill was an HR executive at Gateway Computers, Inc. and an HR executive at Honeywell International, Inc. before taking a cross-functional assignment supporting globalization at Honeywell while ensuring compliance with international trade laws.
Bill graduated from New York University School of Law in 1994 and was a labor and employment attorney at Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz in Philadelphia before becoming an in-house labor and employment attorney and HR executive at General Mills. Before attending law school, he was an HR professional at PepsiCo (Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group) and General Mills.
In addition to his J.D., Bill has a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, an M.S. in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from the Industrial Relations Research Institute, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an M.A. in International Relations from the Fletcher School, Tufts University.
Bill has two grown sons, still coaches a baseball team each fall comprised of high school players from the Minneapolis City Conference and is a member of the Dunwoody College of Technology Board of Trustees.
