Bill is a Human Capital Consultant at TriSearch* and the Head of its HR and Legal & Compliance practices. He also serves as its General Counsel. He is also a solo practitioner at The Mateikis Law Firm, which specializes in the resolution of workplace conflicts and the resolution of employment disputes. Bill is also a qualified mediator under MM Supreme Court Rule 114 and teaches part-time at the Wayne State University Law School in Detroit in both the JD/LLM programs and the Master of Legal Studies program. He is licensed to practice law in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and soon, Michigan.
In all of these capacities, Bill draws on the broad and diverse skills and experiences he's had from his 40-year career in the HR, Legal, and Compliance professions as an HR field generalist, HR executive, including twice as CHRO, law firm associate, in-house labor & employment expert, international trade compliance specialist, Chief Legal Officer (general counsel and corporate secretary), and professor of law.
He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1994, and has an M.A. degree from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University as well as an M.S. degree from the Industrial Relations Research Institute, University of Wisconsin-Madison. His undergraduate degree in Economics is from the State University New York College at Fredonia, where he played Division III Baseball and was all SUNYAC as a freshmen SS/3rd baseman and honorable mention as a converted catcher his junior/senior years.
Bill now, finally, is a Red Wings season-ticket holder (Rochester Community Baseball Club, the AAA-affiliate of the Washington Nationals) in Rochester, NY where Bill watched his future Fredonia coach play as a catcher while Bill was in high school, where his former high school coach (also a catcher) was signed by the New York Yankees out of Irondequoit High School. He has two grown sons, Maxwell and Spencer who live in Minneapolis, where Bill still lives part-time when he is not in Fort Myers, FL, Rochester, NY, or Detroit, MI.
He is serving the final (third) 3-Year term as a Trustee of the Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN which offers a variety of technical certificates, A.A. and B.S. degrees while building off its 100-year legacy of hands-on, applied learning with an emphasis on team success.
