Eric Cartaya, Ph.D.

Dr. Eric Cartaya earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Florida International University, where most of his work focuses on Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and Leadership. His research examines how personality traits—particularly openness to experience and extraversion—influence workplace behavior, decision-making, and rater accuracy. Past research has explored the link between individual disposition and behavior, analyzing how personality characteristics interact with leadership training, performance assessment, and organizational context to shape outcomes in the workplace.

Dr. Cartaya’s broader scholarly agenda bridges personality psychology, leadership development, and human resource systems, emphasizing how cognitive frameworks and affective dispositions influence perception, evaluation, and interpersonal dynamics within organizations.

In addition to his academic research, Dr. Cartaya has served as a consultant for numerous Florida companies across manufacturing, media, hospitality, and aviation industries, designing and facilitating programs on leadership, workplace safety, discrimination prevention, and conflict resolution. He has also served as a guest lecturer for HBO Latino, FIU’s College of Medicine, and FIU’s Global Programs, and has also served as both an instructor and member of the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
