Anindya Kundu, Ph.D.

Anindya Kundu is an Associate Professor of Educational Policy Studies at Florida International University and a sociologist whose work examines how people navigate social and institutional environments and barriers to build agency and access opportunity. 

Dr. Kundu's research focuses on the cultural, social, and organizational conditions that help young people and professionals thrive, particularly in contexts shaped by resource constraints and inequality.

Dr. Kundu is the author of the award-winning The Power of Student Agency and Transforming Educational Leadership, and his forthcoming trade book, OUTSIDE-IN: The New Science of Self-Transformation, is under contract with Avery/Penguin Random House. Across his scholarship, teaching, and public-facing work, he specializes in translating complex research into practical frameworks that help groups examine barriers, rethink assumptions, and identify actionable pathways forward. His two TED Talks on opportunity and education have reached more than six million viewers, and he regularly works with educators, leaders, and organizations to connect research with practice, with his work appearing in USA Today, MSNBC, The Miami Herald, The Conversation, The 74 Million, NPR, and more.
