About Us

At the Center for Leadership at Florida International University (FIU), we partner with capable leaders and organizations in a purposeful process to set the stage for continued growth and development. Time and again, we see that small adjustments, new ways of tackling a problem, increased awareness, and doing things just a little bit differently add up to have a HUGE impact. We seek to help each participant find those micro-adjustments, as well as a cohesive plan for action.

Since 2007, we have worked with over 8,500 leaders, from C-Suite executives and military generals to front-line managers and aspiring leaders. Participants have come from 24 countries and 391 different organizations, and our custom programs have engaged both medium-sized and large organizations - from long-term initiatives with 2 of the 10 largest school districts in the United States, to projects and engagements in healthcare and retail, technology and manufacturing, to investment advisory, and everything in between.

We are passionate about what we do and proud to do our best to “make a dent” in our local, regional, and global community. Using a multidisciplinary approach based on the integration of empirical research in leadership development and applied best practices, we focus on creating better leaders for a better world.

Two Foci of Leadership Programs

For leaders to position themselves to make better decisions more often, to get the best out of themselves and others, and to deliver strategic and tactical results, all of our programs focus on two epicenters of development:

  1. Self-Insight and
  2. Developable Skills and Actionable Behaviors.

In other words, we help leaders better understand how they tend to ‘show up’ – above and below the surface – and help decipher how to best leverage and adjust. And we focus on moving leaders towards action and integration of concepts and ideas, made possible and maximized after both learning/discussion, intentional practice, and measurable accountability. We help leaders make tangible “tweaks” that can have a big impact on their leadership, by including in-program practice, feedback, a concrete action plan, and individual executive coaching.

Mission

Our mission is to empower individuals and organizations through transformative leadership development, equipping them to be more effective, purposeful, and capable of making a greater impact.

We achieve this by pioneering new knowledge, delivering world-class yet highly practical innovative programs, and fostering leadership conversations across industries and levels of responsibility.
