Once again bringing outstanding leadership insight to our community, the Center for Leadership at Florida International University (FIU) has announced speakers for their popular Leadership Lectures series taking place during the 2016-17 academic year.

The Leadership Lectures will include:

  • Susan L. Taylor: After 27 years as editor of Essence Magazine, Taylor is the Founder & CEO of National CARES Mentoring Movement, the fastest growing mentor-recruitment organization in the nation.
  • Sydney Finkelstein: Bestselling author of Superbosses: How Exceptional Leaders Master the Flow of Talent and Why Smart Executives Fail, Finkelstein is Director of the Center for Leadership and of the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth College.
  • Adam Goldstein: Goldstein served as President & COO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and now serves as Chair of Board of Directors of Cruise Lines International Association. He has been inducted into the Travel Industry Hall of Leaders.

About our Leadership Lectures

The Leadership Lectures, now in its sixth year, are presented by FIU’s Center for Leadership with generous support from Mercantil Commercebank.

“The series features world-class, accomplished and influential leaders with expertise in a variety of fields,” says Betty Junco-Gonzalez, Corporate Communications & Responsibility Manager, Mercantil Commercebank. “We are pleased with the response from not only FIU students but also from the surrounding community who appreciate these opportunities to be up close and personal with leadership gurus.”

The Leadership Lectures, held on the Modesto A. Maidique campus of FIU, are free and open to the public but advanced registration is required. The Center partners with FIU’s Honors College, and many of the lectures offer honors credits.

“Attendees often tell us that the real-world messages they hear from the presenters at The Leadership Lectures make lasting impressions,” reports Mayra Beers, PhD, Director for The Center. “We are excited about the 2016-17 line-up, offering excellent opportunities for students and professionals to augment their personal and professional development.”
