FIU Center for Leadership Receives National Recognition For Leadership Development.

The Center for Leadership at FIU was recognized by Leadership Excellence magazine as one of the top leadership development organizations in the nation. The center is ranked top 10 in the South, and second in the state of Florida.

The 2012 Leadership 500 ranking is based on seven criteria, including vision and mission; design, content and curriculum; involvement and participation of program attendees; measurement and accountability; presenters, presentations and delivery; take-home value of customers; and outreach and impact of programs.

The Center for Leadership was the only other Florida school along with Rollins College to be included in the national ranking list and one of eleven southern schools, including Duke University, Vanderbilt University, Emory University, and the University of North Carolina.

“This is a significant recognition and we are honored to be included among such well-respected universities and schools of management and business,” said Modesto A. Maidique, president emeritus of FIU and executive director of the Center for Leadership.

“Our Center is committed to producing top-quality leadership programs and training, while also advancing new research. This accolade is a testament to our continuous effort to provide leaders with the tools they need to succeed and bring their organizations to the next stage of their evolution.”

Founded in 2005, the Center for Leadership at the Chapman Graduate School of Business at FIU is known for its leadership research, development, and training. Providing leaders with the competencies that will positively transform their organizations and the society they impact, the Center’s mission encompasses cutting-edge research in the area of leadership development, delivering innovative leadership programs and strengthening the leadership understanding of the community-at-large through workshops, seminars and events.

In its relatively short life span and under the leadership of Dr. Maidique for the past three years, the Center’s leadership development programs have already amassed an impressive group of alumni that includes organizational leaders from industries such as health care, banking and finance, technology, retail, education, government, and the military, and with participants from across the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, and Africa.
