FIU Center for Leadership’s 2013 Executive Leadership Programs Hit High Gear.

The nationally ranked Center for Leadership at FIU today announced their 2013 Executive Leadership Development program schedule. These programs aim to provide leaders with the competencies that will positively transform their organizations and the society they impact.

Educating better leaders for a better world is at the core of the Center’s Executive Leadership Development programs and workshops, where faculty and staff leverage academic research and best practices of veteran corporate leaders to develop and deliver dynamic leadership programs that weave together theory, real-world application, reflection, and feedback to meet specific needs of participants and their organizations.

The Center for Leadership’s three flagship programs include:

Leading Decisions – March 12-15, 2013
Designed exclusively for CEOs, presidents and C-suite executives, the 2013 program integrates advanced research and expertise with physical and personality assessments to build critical leadership skills and better decision making. Featuring highly engaging and thought-provoking sessions, the program is led by Dr. Mitch Maidique, and interdisciplinary faculty and guest speakers, including Dr. Noel Tichy, Professor of Management & Organizations at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, and Dr. Arthur Agatston (Cardiologist & Author, The South Beach Diet).

Women on the Move – April 16-19, 2013
“Women on the Move” is specifically designed for high potential women leaders who have expanded responsibility and want to take their leadership development in a new direction. The program’s popularity is due in large part to its unique approach of identifying and leveraging individual strengths rather than weaknesses, as well as employing discussions and topics specific to the professional development of women executives.

The High Potential Leader – May 7-10, 2013

Targeting high-impact executives, senior managers, directors and vice presidents who seek to continue or accelerate their personal and professional development, this program helps leaders develop strategic leadership capabilities to enhance organizational performance and prepare for future roles and responsibilities. The program also includes a unique assessment tool that allows executives to identify and manage personal and profession derailers.

In its relatively short life span, the Center’s leadership development programs have already amassed an impressive group of alumni that includes organizational leaders from industries such as health care, banking and finance, technology, retail, education, government, and the military, and with participants from across the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, and Africa.

“The Center for Leadership is steadfast in producing top-quality leadership programs and training that provides invigorating and productive outcomes for both participants and their organizations,” said Modesto A. Maidique, President Emeritus of FIU and Executive Director of the Center for Leadership. “The positive response we have received regarding these programs by some of the world’s most distinguished industry leaders is compelling.  It is a true testament to our continuous efforts to develop leadership that transforms organizations and in turn, our societies.”

Recently recognized by Leadership Excellence Magazine as one of the top leadership development organizations in the nation, the Center for Leadership at FIU is committed to promoting and advancing the study of leadership through research, education, and engagement based on its leadership philosophy that effective, ethical decision-making and self-awareness are the keys to great leadership.
