Seema Pissaris, Ph.D.

Dr. Pissaris is a professor at Florida International University’s College of Business. She teaches courses in Leadership, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. Dr. Pissaris is also an avid entrepreneur responsible for launching numerous successful companies, one of which went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In recognition of this success, Dr. Pissaris was nominated for the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the year award by the Royal Bank of Canada. Her experience of transforming a small business into a multi-million dollar corporation has informed Dr. Pissaris’ current research on organizational leaders and their ability to contribute strategically to the organization. Dr. Pissaris’ research has been presented at national and international conferences and published in the Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Management Research.

Dr. Pissaris is also actively involved with international NGOs and social service organizations where she helps institutional leaders collate evidence on the impact of their services and implement strategies that measurably improve the quality of life of their constituencies. In this work she travelled to numerous countries and led high-performance teams to help organizations define key programmatic outcomes and develop methodologies to assess and report progress towards institutional goals and overall mission.
