COMMUNITY AFFAIRS OFFICER, CENTENE CORPORATION
Chris Paterson is the community affairs officer for Centene Corporation and board member and prior CEO of its Florida subsidiary, Sunshine Health. Chris is the former CEO of CareGuide, regional president of UnitedHealth Group’s AmeriChoice Corporation, CEO of AmeriChoice’s health plans in Pennsylvania, EVP of Merit Behavioral Care Corporation and President of Tennessee Behavioral Health. Throughout his career in both public and private companies, Chris has been responsible for all aspects of operations, strategic planning, community relations and the introduction of innovative care management models and programs. He chairs the Urban League of Broward County Board, is the past chair of the Florida Association of Health Plans, is a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, sits on the Board of Advisors of the Florida International University Center for Leadership, and is a member of the Florida Health Insurance Advisory Board and the board of the Florida Health Maintenance Organization Consumer Assistance Plan. After receiving undergraduate, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Ohio State University, Chris interned at the University of Florida and served on the faculty of the University of Miami early in his career.
