Ranked #1! The Center for Leadership at FIU again grabs top honor by HR.com
Florida International University’s Center for Leadership was once again named top provider of open-enrollment executive leadership development programs by HR.com and Leadership Excellence Magazine.
For the third consecutive year The Center for Leadership at Florida International University has been ranked among the top providers of executive leadership development programs. Leadership Excellence, a publication of HR.com, ranked The Center #1 in North America for Open-Enrollment Leadership Development Programs.
The announcement was made last week in Nashville, Tennessee, at LEAD2016, HR.com’s annual conference for human resource and organizational development professionals and institutions. The Center was also ranked #2 for Custom-Content Programming for its work with Miami-Dade County Public School principals and administrators.
For the past 30 years, Leadership Excellence, a publication founded by leadership luminary Warren Bennis, has identified and recognized the top leadership organizations in their annual ranking. This year, the competitive ranking attracted applications from more than 300 educational institutions, including programs/divisions of Wharton University, Babson College, Boston University, Center for Creative Leadership and Carnegie Mellon University. “Effective leadership development programs and activities are a must in today’s business. Without leadership, all other resources are ineffective, whether you are operating a non-profit, educational institution, government department, small business, or large corporation. Programs and individuals recognized in the Leadership Excellence Awards program have made significant contributions developing leaders,” stated Debbie McGrath, CEO of HR.com.
Rankings heavily based on program content and alumni impact
Several factors contribute to the annual rankings, including the strength of the applications from providing institutions and their programming content. However, HR.com heavily considered the long lasting impact of the programs being reviewed and solicited feedback from program alumni through detailed questionnaires, as well as responses to targeted social media campaigns.
“This external validation of The Center’s work reinforces our commitment to leadership research and education; the awards showcase the impact of our work and allows us to continue to build our vision of equipping better leaders for better organizations and, in turn, a better world,” said Mayra Beers, Ph.D., Director for The Center and a Knight Research Fellow. “From the beginning, our program alumni have been our greatest allies and supporters. This honor further recognizes The Center’s commitment to advancing the field of leadership knowledge and developing best practices for organizational leaders.”
Nathan Hiller, Academic Director of The Center, who accepted the award at the HR.com ceremony noted, “The award nominees represented some of the most established leadership providers in the country and we were honored to be ranked so highly among these prestigious peer institutions and programs.” The published awards’ list includes more than 1200 applicants in a number of categories, with the top ten in each category recognized at the annual event for their exceptional programs and leadership initiatives. Awards to leadership providers were given in categories including U.S. companies, government/military, and international companies.
