About the Lecture

Confidence is essential for leadership and life. Entrepreneurs trying to build something new, and CEOs or professionals trying to anticipate the future, must chart a path through uncertainty. Confidence is the expectation of a positive outcome that gives them the motivation to invest time and energy in working for that outcome. This session will  explore the nature of confidence as a sweet spot between arrogance and despair; over-confidence leads to complacency, under-confidence to passivity, and neither propel high performance. Using examples from successful companies, community organizations, and sports teams, this session will provide insights about how to cultivate confidence in oneself and others, and lead the development of a culture of confidence, drawn from Professor Kanter’s New York Times bestseller, Confidence: How Winning Streaks and Losing Streaks Begin and End.
